I Keep Getting Derailed! You?

High emotionality can leave us super frustrated when it comes to achieving or even identifying our goals. Life starts to feel meaningful the second we take ANY action on a goal that means something to us. Even if that involves “just” survival. It does NOT have to be grand to be serving the purpose you NEED to be serving today. It just needs to be personal and upward. “Make rent” is on par with “save the children” if it checks those boxes.

The Actual Power of Taking Action

What are these rascals actually if we double click into them? They are ideas of an impossible becoming possible. Relative to you and you only. And the moment you take action towards it you’re already feeling better and leaving ‘poopyland’. Remember when you pursued something you wanted and you didn’t have it yet, but you still felt pretty good? Why? Because the pursuit itself is affirming that your wants count and there’s hope.

Can We Overcome Perfection Inertia aka Fear or Mistakes?

Your spirit gets a break from incessantly solving for purpose and feeling confused and agitated (in that regard). The challenges and frustrations have become more of a tactical struggle versus existential struggle. This is the feeling of agency to improve your life. But there are two traps to avoid: Perfection Inertia: the belief that we must have everything figured out before taking action. Or that we must have it perfect or its garbage.

Fear Needs What, Now?

These come from fear of making mistakes or fear of the world in general and were probably adopted as you adapted to your parents projected fears upon you. Remember, the fears can still be there while you take action. This will feel wrong. The fear should be gone now that you are in action, right? You did some shadow work and have your pattern dialed in, right? I know! So why does it still feel so freaking horrid? Well, this is the dance we high emotional folks are challenged with; moving anyway. 

 

Your Nervous System

Fear feels like it will literally obliterate you, I know. Trust me. This is my life. Your nervous system does not know it (the action) ISN’T wrong, yet. Yet! 

But you are teaching it little by little! This is exactly where we need to be. In that tornado, care taking our scared self and still writing, still, drawing, still leaning towards the open window of freedom. It will feel like there are two of you. As you well know.

What’s Distraction Inertia (the new procrastination)

Then there’s the issue of distraction inertia. It’s a global matter at this point and I can really struggle with it. Sometimes, it’s a matter of guilt-tripping myself into action. In this case that is the lesser of evils. Whatever it takes, interrupt this inertia! 

You have flavor. 

Don’t treat fear like it knows who you are.
